Urban Green Laundry

Hello fellow Green Urbanites,

Today’s topic …. LAUNDRY

Laundry is just another thing we can make little changes  to and make our little world greener.

Here are some tips!

1. Wash Cold

When you turn on your machine, most of the time the pre set water temperature is at warm. Save some money on your energy bill and wash cold. The higher the temperature the higher the bill.

2. Eco Friendly washers

There is a ton of different eco friendly washers on the market now a days. My favorite is the Samsung line. Here is a link to their features. Totally worth the investment, if you have the space for a washer and dryer.

3. Eco Friendly detergent

My favorite eco friendly soap is from Seventh Generation. Love this scent! Bonus: Eco container!

4. Hang Dry

This is where it gets tricky. Some of us urbanites don’t have the space to hang our clothes to dry. I don’t hang dry all my clothes personally but I do hang dry sweaters, jeans and others small clothing items.  Amazon sells these over the tub drying racks and over the door racks. I use a small one in my patio.

5. Full Loads

Now I know we all have those emergency situations where you want to just wash that one outfit for tomorrow, but don’t. I am sure if you walk around the house you can find some clothes that need to be washed or someone else in the house needs to get some stuff washed too. Share your load.

Now go out and share there tips with other urbanites!
